I drive both my Mustang and Porsche with Fezza gloves. They’re are incredibly soft and comfy with genuine leather and suede, but a tad bit sacrilegious or blasphemous given the cars I drive with them. :p
What about you all?

nope. i like to feel the wheels itself. Same with the gym. gloves are lame IMO

I don’t drive anything cool enough to get away with driving gloves. Except when I wear gloves in the winter.

Ya I don’t even like gloves when driving in the winter. Can’t wear gloves working on cars either even though it would save me a lot of cuts. Just don’t have the same dexterity.

yea id rather be cut up and dirty when workin on cars. I wear them here in the winter for about 10mins till the vehicle heats up. (i park outside in winter)

I occasionally drive my car with my Sparco racing gloves. Good for in the summer when everything is flesh searingly hot.

Only on the race track .

Nothing feels better than a good pair of leather gloves. I don’t wear them when I drive but I wear these gloves I made when I ride.
I used cheap leather work gloves as a base and cut, sewed, stained and oiled them.

Ok, story time. When I first tried kart racing, I decided I wanted some gloves for better grip and comfort. I got a pair of leather gloves from a local Banana Republic for $15.
How so cheap? It was summer and it was a pair of winter gloves, heavily marked down due to being out of season. Cashmere lining, leather grip, they were supremely comfortable. And NOT racing gloves.
I didn’t care. I made the purchase, gleefully recognizing the gloves were $80 originally. What a deal! I was going to OWN at the local karting center.
I walked outside and (with effort) wriggled into the seat of the 1965 MG Midget I was driving at the time. Gloves on. I gripped the thin-rimmed and slightly cracked original steering wheel, and began to drive.
Did the gloves make me a better driver? Not really. Were my hands sweating on the hot summer day? Resounding “yup.” Did I care? Resounding “nope.” I felt like a badass wearing those gloves even though I probably looked the opposite.
30 minutes later, the MG had made it to the local kart track without breaking down (I know, right?) and I swaggered my way to the front desk.
“Dude, why are you wearing gloves when it’s 95 out?” asked the cashier, we’ll call her Giulia, “You look ridiculous.”
“They’re my new racing gloves,” I responded with a smirk. “I’m gonna win a race today!”
Giulia’s expression was something between skepticism and outright disbelief. “Alright, you can go in the next shifter race. Have fun and please don’t ruin the gloves. They look expensive...”
Next thing I knew, I was out on the track having the time of my life. The gloves were, admittedly, not really a racing revelation, but looking down at the steering wheel and seeing my fancy gloves was a major confidence boost.
I proceeded to do more races across the course of that summer and improved my times considerably. The gloves, not designed for such abuse, wore out quickly. The cashmere lining inside became fairly ragged and the thumbs now have holes on the palm side. Like taking a Jaguar E-type to rallycross, I’d used the gloves in a way many would deem inappropriate.
Yet, I was okay with that. I enjoyed my purchase far more than the $15 it cost me, possibly more than the $80 retail price too. And now I can use my phone in cold weather since the gloves have holes in the thumbs!
I’ve since tried actual racing gloves. A little more durable, but not so much better as to be worth the higher price.
TL,DR: For casual, entry-level karting, some off-season winter gloves are an excellent deal.

Agreed, gloves in summer actually help one stay cool, contradictory as that might sound.

Nope. All the douchy stereotypes from the ‘80s ruined it for me. Gloves are for winter driving only.

What are these stereotypes? I’ve never heard of them.

I should really buy a pair of gloves to save the alcantara on my wheel, but keep forgetting to get around to it.

I don’t like having alcanatra in interiors. It gets an uneven look when you rub it and it drives my OCD mad. That being said, it is quite comfy and soft to touch but I’m unsure of it’s durability.
What car do you have that has an alcantara wheel?

I have a GT350, which technically makes it “Miko Suede”, but it’s all the same stuff.

I feel like a toolbag when I do it, but especially on thin steering wheels I prefer it.

Was raising my hand but you couldn’t see me. I have both 30 year old black Fownes and new tan ones in last year by Reparo. The Reparo ones replaced some 35 year old grey ones by Aris that finally started to split at the seams. I usually just use them in winter on milder days but have been known to wear them if I’m on a road trip by myself and doing spirited backroads.

I only drive in gloves in winter. I have a pair of fake leather and insulated Isotoners, I kid you not Dan Marino endorsed Isotoners.

I do when I’m out for a “spirited” drive. I get sweaty hands and with the combination of my car’s lackluster AC, manual steering, and smaller-than-stock steering wheel, I want to make sure I can keep a good grip on the wheel.
Haven’t really found a pair I love, though. I’ll have to take a look at those Fezzas.

Big sunglasses glasses (worn at night), blonde feathered hair, leather jacket, driving gloves, drives a Porsche (sorry) - classic hallmarks of an ‘80s douchebag. Think of it as the ‘80s version of the modern bro.
It doesn’t help that gloves were a pop culture “fashion” statement back then. Think Madonna, Michael Jackson, “glam” rockers and big hair bands - the list goes on and on. Those bozos wore gloves as a statement, not for functionality.

Ah! Tell me more, fellow S550 Mustang owner. How do ya like it? :)

We have to get together sometime! I’ll let you try the out. The pair was $180.

Sparco racing shoes and gloves. I wore them a couple times in my crap car. they’ll stay in the drawer until I get a car worthy for them.

I enjoy it quite a bit. It’s significantly larger than any other car I’ve owned, so that took some getting used to, but it’s surprisingly nimble for its size and weight. I love the way to Voodoo sounds, but damn, does it drink gas. I got a Costco membership specifically to take advantage of the cheaper gas, haha.

I do too, not all the time though. I just use a pair of old motorcycle gloves though.

Definitely! I’ve been busy as heck with work and life in general this summer, but come August I’m hoping to be able to make it out to a Cars and Coffee. Thinking about visiting the Dream Cruise this year, too.
I saw you got a 924 Turbo, that’s pretty awesome! How do you like it?

Hope to see ya there at both! Have you been to the Dream Cruise before? I like my 924 Turbo in the fact that I own a classic turbo Porsche. But it doesn’t run.....YET! It would be awesomesauce to have it running and driving by my birthday next month though. :)
